Welcome to the 10th edition of SONAR. With 10 artists featured each week, that means we’ve now put 100 artists on people’s radar here. And we’re just getting started 🔥

With half of the batch displaying latin roots this week, we’re setting the stage for the fastest growing (macro) music genre out there. Latin artists are setting new standards for how music travels the world, with incredibly engaged audiences across the globe.

Side update: SONAR is now live on Instagram and TikTok, where we share more great insights on music discovery and the artists we spotlight. We have a lot of cool content coming up so don’t miss out and hit that follow!

1. Yelofi

Yelofi is a band from Monterrey, Mexico that fuses R&B, funk, rock, and indie for a fresh, dynamic sound. Their name comes from “Yellow” and “Lofi”, effectively capturing the nature of their bold, colorful music with a laid-back vibe. They’re still relatively anonymous on social media, but given how fast their streaming numbers are growing, this shouldn’t be the case for long.

2. Drama Kashmir

Drama is a talented young singer from LA that mixes multi-instrumentalism and raw, emotional songwriting, creating sounds with rock and indie vibes. She’s earned recognition through performances at venues like The Troubadour and collaborations with notable producers and engineers. And her social media presence is growing fast!

3. Napo99

This hip-hop artist from Chile stands out with a strong flow and reggaeton rhythms that leaves you energized. He’s building a stable audience across socials with 64K followers on TikTok and over 1.2M views on YouTube. Big organic Shazam growth lately despite no recent release this year, which could mean he’s cooking up new sounds for soon…

4. Liliana Tovar Dalton

Liliana’s music blends indie and folk influences with soul-baring lyrics and warm vocals. She blew up on TikTok this year, and her first single “Nicotine” led her to American Idol this summer. The Mexican-American singer from San Antonio released her second track a week ago. Stay tuned for a promising career that is just taking off.

5. Matias Gruener

Son of famous Mexican singer Susan Zabaleta, Matías is a rising voice in the latin indie pop scene. His latest single ”Septiembre 30” exemplifies his soulful voice wrapping around themes of nostalgia and self-discovery. With strong artistic roots (Matías has a background in acting), his music resonates deeply with Gen Z fans on socials with close to 800K (!) followers on TikTok.
